Moi Meme

Ever since having my photo taken by new kid on the block Stephen Moloney for his blog Stitches|Fabric|and Soul , recently noted by Vogue, I kid you not, I have become a tad obsessed with street style blogs. As fascinating as it is to watch the raw talent of designers at the various shows of London, New York, Paris and the Fashion Weeks of other metropolises from my armchair, there is something very intriguing about someone taking what are essentially a few pieces of material and creating an outfit.

Hence chéris, I've decided to go with this for a time and see how things go. If you or anyone you know should be featured on this email me at  seward.katie21@gmail.com  , send me 3 - 5 photos of various outfits and a paragraph on your personal style and style icons. Also, give me a few items that obsess you at the moment.

As we Irish tend to be ridiculously shy, I have yet to beat sense into my future volunteers and will begin with myself.

Scarf - Mercury Goes Retrograde €8 , Dress - Stitch n' Switch €15, Tights - Penneys €1.50, Shoes - Penneys €10
Outfit #1, I love this dress, I picked it up with my Stitch n' Switch vouchers straight after seeing The Boat That Rocked (without a doubt one of the greatest films on earth) last year. I can wear it with loafers and jacket for a day of lectures then add heels, sweep my hair up and voilá throw any party at me, I'll be good to go. The silk scarf is no longer in my possession unfortunately as it immediately caught my eye. My heart is still broken after losing my previous silk scarf in the maze that is my studio. Navy, gold and beige, it hung beautifully from my satchel. RIP. Anyway when my eyes caught sight of this gem I couldn't resist despite being RIDICULOUSLY  broke, having worn it once, I had to get a refund so as to be able to afford a bottle of wine one night.
Hard times chéris.

Cardigan - Positively Vintage €12, Denim Shirt - Topshop €40, Evil Twin Shorts - Urban Outfitters £70, Tights - Penneys €1.50, Shoes - ASOS €90
Outfit #2, this pretty much describes what I wear everyday. Comfy, somewhat presentable, ça ira. I was always wary of denim, but seeing Alexa Chung pull it off splendidly over and over again I had to pick up this shirt in Galway. The cardigan saved me from dying of exposure when I thought nothing of going out in peep toe heels in the snow, I would not advise this chéris. Despite the fact that these ASOS boots have been worn so much that they are now riddled with holes I continue to wear them and will have my fingers removed before I throw them out.

Fur - Mon Dieu don't ask, nicked from the mother, Jumper - Positively Vintage €15, Shirt - Topshop €11, Cinos - Zara €8, Sunglasses - Bella, €10
Outfit #3, this is the photo taken for Stitches, Fabric and Soul. A long lunch with Maman for my birthday followed by a stroll about Grafton Street. Moloney described the look as androgynous and "a breath of fresh air" which is what I aim for, despite often looking like a resident of Bedlam.

As I said earlier I'm going to include a few items that obsess the subject at that point in time. These do not have to be fashion related. I finally had my braces removed a week or so ago after six years of wearing various different types...not fun. However I can now flick rouge and draw even more attention to my new fangs. My pale skin and dark hair create a wonderful gothic effect with it, not too extreme though. Next, religious medals and the like, I found a strange metal beaded charm the other day that the bishop had given out at my school a few years ago, I clipped it to the top button of my shirts for a few weeks and went with it. Then the ever reliable J. Breeze provided me with a miraculous medal a week or so ago that has remained on my wrist since. And finally I managed to find a little earring with a cross hanging off've it in Topman for a mere €1.50. As part of my Fine Art degree I studied Early Christian Art in semester one and discovered a beauty I had never seen before in Christian iconography. Finally, one word, POLAROID. I am dying to get one, having found a dusty old book in the college library full of polaroid portraits, I am obsessed.

And there you have it.
PLEASE don't be shy, start sending your photos now chéris!
