V.E.R.T

Against my better judgement I decided to write a post somewhat linked in with good auld Paddy's Day. Whether it be some spark of patriotism as Ireland slaughter the Brits in the rugby or the flashes of the celebrations chez J. Breeze haunting me, something had to be done.

Below are a few of my favourite style icons wearing our national colour, having avoided the colour for years I have finally realised how much it does for pale skinned/dark haired girls.
Parfait.

Alexa Chung is without a doubt a hero in my eyes, I have NEVER been disappointed with any ensemble shes thrown together. Here she continues the elegant yet quirky look that only she can pull off. This piece is from the Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 collection. The piece was worn on the catwalk by an undoubtedly gorgeous leggy blonde beauty, however Chung's dark locks really add depth to the piece. Adding a flick off red lipstick for even more colour is genius, really makes the piece pop.

I added this photo, not only because I adore Miss (for now) Moss, but this reminded me of my own Paddy's Day outfit. I teamed a green Topshop mini dress with black tights and leopard print ankle boots. Something different to the various "sexy leprachaun" costumes that roamed the streets. Moss' sallow skin is totally different to Chung's paleness above and has an incredibly different but very beautiful effect all the same. The gold from her coat seems to bounce off of her skin, making her glow.

This photo is one of the many that really shows darling Lily's transition from little girl to lady. Chanel seems to suit Lily down to the ground. The coat is outfit enough, teaming it with anything but black would have been ridiculous. The red lips and clutch are addition enough.

This dress was such a risk for model Erin O' Connor. Her tiny frame could have been completely drowned by this plunging jade green Donna Karan dress. Its grecian style would wrap beautifully around someone with slightly more pronounced curves but Erin's exquisite posture allows her to carry it off magnificently. The colour is gorgeous as well, portraying how much designers can play around with the colour.

Whilst flicking through various style blogs after a long day in studio I happened to come across this Monique l'Huiller gown worn by the sumptuous Catherine Zeta Jones at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. With her husband Michael Douglas constantly at her side, also looking brilliant having just recovered from cancer, she was the personification of elegance.

And last but not least...
This dress needs no introduction, but for those of you from a deep dark cave on Pluto, this incredible piece was worn by Keira Knightley in the film Atonement, despite the fact that the film itself was stunning anyway, this dress was still quite possibly my favourite thing about it. The dress speaks for itself, leaving little to be written about. An iconic piece that I'm sure will grace style columns and blogs for years to come.
